Shang Guan (Hurting Officer): When the Drain Runs Too Far, Look for the Seal Before the Officer

Shang Guan also drains. It is the same class as Shi Shen. Do not judge it as a disaster star. For Jia Wood, Shang Guan is Ding Fire: the day master produces it, but the yin-yang is opposite. It is sharper than Shi Shen. The qi shows more on the outside, and it pushes back against rules more easily. Drained just enough, it is an edge and invention. Drained too far, the day master is pulled thin. What remains is collision, not a result.

The old line is "Hurting Officer meets the Officer." This piece does not treat that line as disaster. The Officer restrains. Shang Guan drains. When both are strong, the day master is caught between them. Look for the Seal. The Seal births the day master, and it can also gather some of that Shang Guan breath. If the Seal is there, ask whether the edge can be used on the work. If it is not, and the drain is already too much, do not add a harder set of rules on top. First bring the day master back to what it can bear.

Shang Guan is not defeat because an Officer appears, and it is not intelligence because the name is there. It is only the other kind of drain. Whether it is wanted still starts with strong or weak, then with whether the Seal is present.

Only Ding against Jia is Shang Guan. Ding meeting Xin is the "Hurting Officer meets the Officer" of this piece. If the chart has no Officer, do not write that meeting in advance. If it has both an Officer and a Seal, the Seal has to actually birth the day master. A water character on a neighboring pillar is not automatically the cure.
